This listing is for a LMG3N-1000-12 model linear actuator, a powerful 12V DC (direct current) actuator designed for small size, low noise and high waterproof applications. Each actuator is capable of providing up to 1000N of pushing or pulling force at the rated voltage. The no-load travel speed at 12V is 22mm/s while at the full rated load the travel rate is 14mm/s. This model is currently stocked in different stroke lengths (travel distances) of 100mm (4"), 200mm (8"), 300mm (12"), 400mm (16"). Motor: The motor is a 12V DC.

The motors shaft powers a worm and spiral bevel gear. The motor unit is surrounded by metal housing. The metal housing cannot be opened. Gear unit: The worm gear and spiral bevel gear is directly powered by the motor shaft which moves a trapezoidal sliding spindle. Linear unit: The actuator extends and retracts the inner tube. The linear unit is surrounded and protected by the outer tube. The inner tube of the actuator is connected to the spindle with a lead screw nut. Wires to connect actuator to power supply or to an external control. The actuator comes with a 1.5m PVC insulated lead as standard (white external sleeve with two internal cores, one brown and one blue) with uncovered lead ends. 20% this is the maximum proportion of time that the actuator may be in operation for, up to 2minutes during any continuous stretch. The duty cycle should be reduced below 10% for average loads >2000N. Aluminium-Alloy outer tube and inner tube, metal motor housing and gearbox. Enclosure rated to IP66, suitable for washing and short-term water exposure.

To change the direction of travel simply swap the polarity of the DC power source to the two actuator leads.

By varying the input voltage between 0-12V DC it is possible to control the speed of the actuator. Reducing the voltage will also reduce load capacity (for example at 6V the actuator will have roughly half of the maximum load capacity at 12V). This actuator is designed primarily for compression loads, it will typically work OK in tension, up to the same rated maximum load, but can be more susceptible to damage from overloading. Shock loads through the mounting points should be avoided. Experienced users who wish to extract greater power from the actuator (at their own risk) should abide by a practical operation ceiling of 18V, above which the motor, diodes and limit switches of the actuator would be significantly more likely to fail.

Be aware that the current draw will be greater if the actuator is run at above 12V DC and the duty cycle should be reduced to help avoid over-heating. Ensure that the control hardware and power source are capable of providing sufficient current for the loads you expect the actuator to experience.
